Beyond Horizons : Advocating Education

"Good day, Sir Edward," Lakshmi greeted warmly as Sir Edward arrived, having completed what seemed like a somewhat arduous journey. Glancing over to his secretary, Mr. Owen, who struggled amidst a heap of luggage and coats, attempting to shrug off his jackets in the oppressive Malabar heat, Sir Edward couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Owen, what on earth are you doing?" Balancing himself to prevent toppling over, Owen replied with a wry smile, 'Just trying to find a place to set these bags and files down, sir,' as Edward queried, looking at the chaotic scene." Sir Edward's journey to Malabar was tied to an unfamiliar yet intriguing connection with Lakshmi. It all began with her reaching out to Sir Austin Francis, a colleague of Edward's and then the appointed viceroy of Malabar, seeking support to establish a gurukul for local children. Sir Francis, aware of Edward's philanthropic inclin...

The Jewel Of The East Coast

"What a captivating city it was! The utterance of 'Phew,' marking the close of the day, escaped my lips as I parked the car at 3 am. It was the 30th of January, approximately 10:30 PM when we bid adieu to the enchanting city of Hyderabad, making our way to attend a colleague's wedding. The anticipation for exploration outweighed our excitement for the impending nuptials. Despite the weariness from a pressure-filled month-end workday, eight of us embarked on this escapade with two designated drivers. The road ahead promised excitement, paralleling the journey itself. Our conversation with the driver—chosen from among us due to limited steering capabilities—persisted as we endeavored to stay awake until 4 am, reaching Vijayawada. Fatigue hit me hard; the impending responsibility of navigating urged me to seek a nap. Stealthily whispering a faint 'Good Morning,' I reclined, while my companions engaged in conversation until Rajahmundry. Their realization dawned, ...

In this age dominated by mobile phones and video calls, the value of handwritten letters may seem diminished. Nevertheless, I am writing with profound happiness and a sense of pride, as I have been entrusted with the task of eradicating infiltrators in the northern punj area. I will lead our troops from the front. War is never an easy endeavor, as it can lead to both victory and profound sorrow. Those of us in the military, whether at the bo...

"How Can A Man Die Better Than Facing Fearful Odds, For the Ashes Of His Fathers and Temple Of His God's" Quite often we have heard about the Mecca of bikers, its a dream of each traveller to explore Ladakh once in a lifetime, bikers ride via Manali to Ladakh and have experienced the joy of the roads and the place. Whenever we draw a map of India during our studies, and I am sure that most of us have done, we always start with J&K, and as of now we have Ladakh as the youngest UT, but have we ever imagined what it looked without it? Cant Right! Well, there are few brave men in uniforms who have breathed there last at Rezang la to make our trips to Ladakh beautiful and memorable. It was not known to me since a year back, my brother told me about the place and the supreme sacrifice. I thank him and take pride to pen down a tiny tribute to those who fought and killed 1300+ enemy just with stones and bare hands, they were just 120 in numbers. Going back from that 7th Pla...

Wake up!Wake up! Shouted Alia on Sameer, it was 10'o clock and a bright sunny day at St.Georges Orphanage.Bruno was accompanying Alia to wake up Sameer, Bruno the common pet for the orphanage, favorite to Sameer and Alia. Father John had brought him to the place when it was merely 2 months. At the orphanage, there were around 30 kids, who had the privilege of freedom from their parents. At a very early age, they handed over their kids to Father John, maybe because of early responsibility or poverty. Father always accepted them graciously and raised them as his own, none had ever complained about their lives there, as they were most happy to have friends, siblings or whatsoever you may call them there. Sameer woke up when the clock was past ten humming a tune, shouting at Alia and Bruno that he slept yesterday night very late as he was reading a book by John Keats, as thee was his favorite poet and started off with on of his favorite line " I am certain of nothing but the hol...
